Bob Hope's theme song says it well: "Thanks for the memories..."

No matter how well or how poorly we performed in class, everyone has memories of high school: the clubs, the favorite teacher, the least-favorite teacher, the sports, the people you dated, the people who wouldn't date you, the great grades, the bad grades -- but most of all the people. Even if we haven't all kept in touch, the memories remain.

Here are some memories compiled by the reunion committee.

Stalwart by the golden sands,
'Neath the time worn hills she stands,
Loyal rooter shout and cheer,
Ventura we hail and revere.

Time can't change the memories
'nor the marks left by our deeds,
Let us fly our banner bold ...
All hail to the Black and Gold

Do we dare? Sure. Our cross town rival was in another city: Oxnard High, home of the Yellowjackets.

If you live out of town and want to periodically find out what's happening in Ventura County, visit the online version of the Ventura County Star. (You're right: It was the Star-Free Press in 1959, and it had more local papers competing with it than it does now.)
